Do you have children that love doing science experiments? They are always looking for new and different ways to learn and do science. I’m going to share with you a few ideas for doing science experiments to do at home with your children.
Homemade slime is a great sensory and chemistry experiment for kids to do at home. This simple to do science project will actually make the slime come alive through a little magnetism. It is also a great way to learn about magnets and how they work. This is one of my favorite science experiments to do at home. You’ll also be able to teach your children about static electricity.
A balloon experiment is another one of my favorite science experiments to do at home. Kids can make a balloon rocket and launch it into the air and watch it go. Make sure that you have a large piece of cardboard nearby to stand on while making the balloon experiment. Have some paper, safety gloves, and a long piece of string. Have them line the string up just right before it is released so that it stays straight when in the air. To add more fun you could use some ladders or some large balloons.
A spinning cylinder science project to do at home is a great way to teach kids about centrifugal force as well. Kids will learn about the power of air and how to create more air in a shorter amount of time. To do this experiment you will need a plastic cylinder, some sand, and water. You should start by putting some sand in the cylinder and then turn the dial to the amount of sand that you need to create.
A neat science project to do at home with your kids is to create a slime mold. For this project you will need a few basic supplies and some food coloring. Cut a square box in the shape of a cube and place it inside the plastic sheet in the cube. Next put the lid on the box and turn on the heat on the stove to boil some water and place some food coloring into the water.
Some other neat and easy to do experiments for children include working with household items and foods. You can make a fun science project out of turning vegetable soup into a gel. You will need some household items like celery, peas, and potatoes to get the result you are looking for. You will also need water to make the solution for the gel.
