We experiment with quite a lot of vegetarian lentil loaf recipe but with spicy citrus squash it is best. I’m pleasantly surprised with the outcome. I suppose it’s not abnormal for vegetarians to crave the idea of ‘meat balls’, ‘burgers’, ‘meat loaves’…so this is a recipe we use to fulfill our craving for the latter.

The beauty about this recipe is not only the taste but it’s also full of nutrition. As found on lentilfest.com, lentils are an important source of iron. Eating lentils with foods rich in Vitamin C, such as tomatoes, green peppers, broccoli, and citrus fruits or juices, helps the body absorb iron more efficiently. They are also protein rich. They lack only one essential amino acid, methionine. Adding grains, eggs, nuts, seeds, meat, dairy products, or egg will provide a complete amino acid profile.

The Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

While hundreds of popular wellness and beauty product labels claim to be the must-have items that can help you achieve an overall healthier lifestyle, the journey toward better health doesn’t necessarily have to take you past the convenience of your own cupboard.

The truly remarkable benefits of adding organic apple cider vinegar (ACV) to your regular diet have been proven to produce very promising results. It’s helpful to note that organic ACV is distinguishable by the thick, murky mass that collects at the bottom of the container, known as the ‘mother’. It’s only in this form, unfiltered and unpasteurized, that ACV’s health benefits are best derived. The mother contains the heart of the nutrients of the vinegar. Rich in enzymes and malic acid, organic ACV contains antibacterial and anti fungal properties. Take a look at a few of this wonder substance’s biggest health benefits:

  1. It Improves Digestion and Promotes Weight Loss

Acetic acid burns fat, while the malic acid is a powerful anti-virus. These acids are aided by live enzymes and other vital minerals that support a healthier digestive system and also prevent constipation. Just make sure to dilute your serving of ACV with water when ingesting it, as the high levels of acidity can harm your tooth enamel as well as your esophagus as it goes down. The best way to introduce ACV into your diet is to mix a tablespoon of ACV in a cup of water and drink it once a day before your largest meal.

  1. It Helps Regulate Blood Sugar

This ultimately keeps blood sugar levels low; something very beneficial to individuals suffering from diabetes.

  1. It Fights Infections and Promotes A Stronger Immune System

As a potent detoxifier, ACV can be used as an anti-fungal and anti-bacterial remedy due to its bacteria-fighting acids. Those who suffer from repeated bouts of Candida infections can rejoice; ACV helps to regulate the intestinal yeasts and bacteria that often grow uncontrollably in sugar-rich diets. In addition to aiding digestion, ACV can strengthen the immune system as it combats fungi and bacteria in the body.

  1. It Whitens Teeth

You can also directly apply the ACV on your teeth, but use sparingly.  It’s important to limit how often you try this method, as it can corrode tooth enamel over time.

  1. It’s Improves Your Skin

ACV’s high acidity regulates the skin’s natural PH. Use it as a toner on clean skin to mitigate excessive oiliness or dryness, to improve the look of blemishes, and to fight acne. Ingesting ACV has also been shown to reduce breakouts caused by eczema.

These easy supplements are quick ways to improve your overall state of health—in more ways than one!
