Since, I was a little girl, I heard sayings such as, “In a healthy body, a healthy mind”. Having over twenty years of experience in bodybuilding and fitness, I can tell you that this saying makes so much sense and it’s so true.

Keep your body healthy and fit; your mind will keep healthy and fit, too.

Bodybuilding, weight training exercise and aerobic exercise can boost our minds and mental well-being. Weight training and aerobic exercise can help with the reduction of stress, anxiety, and depression. Weight training and aerobic exercise can help in rising self-esteem and confidence.

Improve your physical condition

First and foremost, the main benefit of bodybuilding is to enhance your physical condition through exceptional fitness and dedication. This has a healthy impact on your bones and joints, giving you the necessary balance across your body in order to remain strong and flexible. As you begin to embark on your journey, you will notice a dramatic increase in muscle, strength, and endurance – but this is a slow process and you will have to remain patient. Results simply do not happen overnight and training all areas of your body is essential to maintaining a balanced physique.

At your local Xercise4Less gym we have a wide range of fitness equipment for you to build the body you want. This spans from cardio through to resistance and TRX, ensuring you have all the tools you could possibly need to get the most from your workout. Our dedicated training zones are extremely spacious, so you will not have to wait to get on your favorite piece of equipment.

If you’re looking to add strength and muscle mass, the weight and resistance area provides the ideal environment for you to achieve those goals. Additionally, you will also need to get your cardio sessions in and we have a variety of equipment to make your training both fun and functional.

When participating in physical exercise, your body releases Endorphin. This works to influence your mood, helping you to sleep better, reduce fatigue and relieve any psychological tension or stress.

Boost your mental health through a balanced fitness

Having a balanced physical condition will help you to become more aligned with yourself and give you a mental boost to clear your head and make sure you keep your focus and determination to meet all your fitness requirements.  certainly not an easy process, and you must maintain the desire to succeed and set yourself small, attainable targets to remain on track.

Weight training and aerobic exercise can boost our minds and cognitive well-being. Going to the gym can relieve stress, anxiety, and depression. Seeing real results can improve your mood and give you a sense of satisfaction to further progress and develop through fitness.  can enhance your self-esteem and confidence by giving you a more positive outlook on your own image. This will happen through the result of changes in your body such as weight loss, and feeling your body becoming leaner, stronger, and more flexible.

Furthermore, does not just happen in the gym. You can take your experiences from fitness into your daily activities. For example, it can help you to make better decisions and cope with negative emotions more rationally, enabling you to see positives or find solutions.

The Many Benefits of Bodybuilding

Are there any benefits of bodybuilding?  Many readers may think the suggestion absurd or comical.  If the word “bodybuilding” conjures up an image of a stage show involving nearly naked, fake-tanned men or women posing their grotesquely massive drug-induced bodies, I understand why you might doubt there are any benefits of bodybuilding.

Some people claim that there are no unique benefits to training – aiming to increase muscle mass and decrease fat mass.  They aver that bodybuilding is a waste of time because it (supposedly) only improves your appearance, not your performance.

Some of these people claim that one should do so-called “functional” training instead.  Allegedly, calisthenics, Cross Fit, powerlifting, Olympic lifting, and gymnastics produce more “functional” fitness than bodybuilding-style training. They maintain that if there are any benefits of bodybuilding, they can be more easily acquired, along with more functional fitness, through these “functional” training methods.

In my opinion, these people don’t understand bodybuilding.  A bodybuilder is just what the word says: either an individual who aims to build his (or her) body or a substance that builds up the body.  The application of the term “body-building” is not limited to discussions of exercise methods.

For example, in Nutrition and Physical Degeneration, Weston A. Price DDS frequently distinguishes body-building foods and nutrients from foods that cause physical degeneration:

It matters not whether one writes   “bodybuilding,” the concept is the same: promoting the growth, health, and/or strength of body tissues.  The bulk (30-40%) of the body is composed of muscles, so anyone who aims to build muscle is a bodybuilder; however, many people choose very inefficient methods to achieve the benefits of bodybuilding.

In essence, a physical discipline consists of physical training to increase the size (and strength!) of your muscles, and consequently all the tissues and organs that support the muscles (tendons, bones, cardiovascular system, etc.), while reducing your body fat percentage, so that you look Glorious and, if you so desire, God- (or Goddess-) like.

Since ancient times, a native European man (or woman) guided and inspired by ancestral polytheism has aimed to emulate the Gods and Demigods.  He (or she) has aimed to develop a divine body and align his mind with nature.  A man who wants to look like and have the strength of Hercules, Zeus, Odin, Baldur, Mercury, or Kratos is simply a man devoted to the Gods – which are the divine potentials that lie within every one of us.

Some people seem to think that one can achieve all the benefits of bodybuilding without actually doing any bodybuilding. You reap the benefits of bodybuilding and accomplish these goals by engaging in precision resistance training coupled with a bodybuilding natural foods diet.

Bodybuilding is best for reducing body fat and improving lipid metabolism

Some people claim that  training has only cosmetic effects on your body composition, but no benefit to internal health.  In fact, the benefits of bodybuilding include improved lipid and insulin levels.

A systematic review and meta-analysis of 66-population based studies found that bodybuilding-type resistance training – consisting of doing for each major muscle group 2-to-3 sets of 6-to-10 reps with a load of at least 75% of maximum, using the whole body and free-weight movements – was more effective than either endurance training alone or a combination of endurance training and resistance training for improving body composition (reducing fat and retaining muscle), reducing total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, fasting insulin levels, and triglycerides.

5. Bodybuilding may make you calmer, happier, healthier, and smarter.

The benefits are not limited to physical improvements either.  A number of studies have shown that the benefits of bodybuilding-style training include reduced stress, anxiety, and depression, and improvements in general well-being, body image, and self-esteem, while women of menstruating age report reduced premenstrual symptoms.

Another benefit of bodybuilding may be improved cognitive function.  Adults with mild cognitive impairment who engaged in 6 months of bodybuilding-style resistance training significantly improved global cognitive function for at least 18 months (i.e. at least 12 months after the intervention).
